Today we finished our clay leaf bowls, and got to use our Animal Dice to act out different animals on our hike! We took turns pretending to be a baby deer hiding in the tall grass (hide-and-seek) and finished out the day by making a self-portrait with natural materials!
Today we collected objects for our “Sink or Float?” experiment on our hike (and played in the tall grass, of course). We made predictions and recorded our results! Our hikes are a time for child-led exploration, which means sometimes we take a nature nap, and sometimes we investigate prickly plants. In the afternoon, we used pebbles to create designs in clay tiles, and found time for our favorite game, “Mr. Bear, Mr. Bear, are you awake?”
Today we used our binoculars on a Nature Scavenger Hunt!We had so much fun finding butterflies, spider webs, seedlings, and so much more. After lunch, we made bowls by pressing leaves into clay and cutting them out. Highlight of the day – we saw a deer run across Farmer Bill’s field while we were eating lunch outside! The kids were very excited!
Today we went on a hike, made binoculars for our scavenger hunt tomorrow, had a picnic lunch, ran through the sprinklers and made a pine cone bird feeder (a lot of the peanut butter ended up in our mouths)! It’s hot, but we are having lots of fun at camp!
Day 5-the last day of Nature and Art Camp at Children’s Garden Montessori! We started off the morning by catching bugs and learning about what’s in the earth under our garden. After our hike, we did some printmaking with leaves, finished our clay imprints, and ended camp with our favorite game, “Mr. Bear, Mr. Bear, are you awake?” We had so much fun this week, thank you to all the parents and children who participated!
Day 4 of Nature and Art Camp at Children’s Garden Montessori. Today we learned about pollinators! We also made natural paintbrushes and paintings, and worked together to plant a raspberry bush in the garden! It was a very messy and fun day!
Day 3 of Nature and Art camp at Children’s Garden Montessori! We went on a color hunt, made nature sun-catchers, and practiced being a seed (Child’s Pose) that blossoms into a flower (Lotus Pose)!
The pumpkins at Children’s Garden Montessori are doing great even with the Michigan drought!
Day 2 of Nature and Art camp at Children’s Garden Montessori! We learned all about trees, made bark rubbings, and practiced teamwork with our Tree Pose in yoga today. We also collected beautiful natural materials to decorate our photo albums and ran through the sprinklers to stay cool on this super hot day!
